Need Motivation? Keep It Moving Consistently >Motivation > Productivity = > Success

Motivation can assist or deter us from accomplishing our goals. Our emotions can
impact how motivated we are and, in that way, feelings can influence our desire or drive
to get things done or engage with others. For example, people who love their job, wake
up excited to go to work (most of the time). People who are unhappy at work, may
experience more difficulties getting out of bed in the morning. Emotion arises from both
the process and outcome of achieving your goals. Together, they play an important role
in your decision-making, performance, and well-being. It answers the “why” of your
behavior. The “why” varies- it can be anything from your dog needing a walk at 7am
Saturday morning so you don’t sleep in, to you staying up all night to finish a
presentation for work the next morning, or the anxiety that keeps you awake at night
because you’re nervous about the raise you’re about to ask for in your performance
meeting.

People who are constantly busy, multitask frequently, and are constantly “on the move”
need a minute (or five) during the day to reset, & calm “the monkey mind” (as my yoga
teacher says), and replenish. Yet, life stressors impact motivation – whether it’s the
stress of getting tasks completed, reviewing the week’s upcoming meetings and events,
and/or trying to plug in family, friends, and social activities in the mix. Add into that, any
stressful meetings, difficult work situations, and/or any interpersonal difficulties, and
your motivation may not be as great as
it could be. If you didn’t sleep enough over the
weekend, or were away on a quick trip, you may still feel tired. So many variables can
influence how your day and/or your week flow.
Here are Amy’s 5 Tips for Motivation:

1- Have a routine Monday morning. Regardless of whether you like
structure or prefer impromptu days, Monday morning make a routine for yourself.
Start your week off structured…..with exercise, meditation, reviewing your weekly
calendar…whatever works for you. Make the routine and stick to it. Having a
Monday morning routine will ground your week and enable you to better handle
unexpected situations.

2- Take frequent breaks throughout your day. Data shows that workers are
more productive with frequent breaks, consciously doing this on Mondays helps
instill better habits and assists with greater work life balance, keeping the rest of
the week more manageable.

3- Exercise sometime during the day. Doesn’t matter when on Monday you
do it but do it.

4- Take a 60 second reset. Thriveglobal.org conducted research that shows
that a 60 second break in your workday can reduce stress. Get the app here.

5- Show yourself compassion and grace. We can’t always accomplish
everything we want in the time we give ourselves. When you don’t accomplish
everything you want, show yourself the same grace and compassion as you
would a friend.

Wishing you Motivation today and always,
Until next time,
