Power of Gratitude in Biz

I get it. Everyone is told when they’re sad or anxious “be in gratitude” or “focus on the positive”.
It’s something everyone knows but not everyone does. I routinely express thanks and gratitude
for the good in my life-people, places, and situations. Yet, it is met with a variety of responses;
sometimes “thanks”, sometimes wonder and surprise, and/or sheer discomfort on the
recipient’s part. I don’t know why people demonstrate discomfort with others telling them that
they appreciate or are grateful for their presence in their life; I always feel better when I express
it- regardless of my audience- or the response. While we may associate gratitude to our
personal lives, gratitude in business fosters a sense of appreciation and belonging that gives
meaning to work. In turn, meaningful work helps employees feel valued, respected and
motivated.

Here are 3 reasons why gratitude is important in business:
1- Fosters a sense of belonging.
2- Recognizing others assists with motivation, and hence increases worker productivity.
3- Lifts employee morale and your own sense of self as it makes yourself and others feel good.
All of the above help create a psychologically safe work environment, foster creativity and help
motivate people to be their best.
Until next time,
